Mirror Mirror… Everywhere.

22 Feb

There is something about a mirrored piece of furniture or accent piece that stops me in my tracks. The way it opens up a room and has the ability to highlight other design details in a space is unmatched. The reflective qualities add sparkle, shine, and depth to even the most masculine interiors.

Bridesmaid Dresses | The Meghan.

10 Feb

I’ve been hiding behind yards and yards of chocolate brown dupioni silk for the past two weeks sewing and fitting bridesmaids dresses for a dear friend’s wedding in April. The only request was that we wear brown dresses, so beyond that the choice was wide opened on our end. The Meghan dress is the first one on the scene, fully lined and sleeveless with a ruffle neckline. Here are some of the details:

Recap | January 23 – 28.

1 Feb

In order to catch you up on the happenings over the past week, I’ve put together a little picture recap.

Cookies. 5 dozen of them to be exact. I free-handed Leapfrog’s logo on made-from-scratch sugar cookies for the launch of Callie’s Charleston Biscuits new biscuit house.

Sparkling water and lime. My new favorite drink thanks to Lulie Wallace. She introduced the refreshing combination to me over lunch at Fish one brainstorming-filled afternoon.

Last Saturday night, I took in the beautiful Charlotte skyline from the 30th floor of a building downtown. It makes you realize how big things are and how small we are, but what an incredible opportunity we have to be a part of something much, much more. It was incredible.

My sweet friend Lauren repped the turquoise wooden bib necklace I sent her as a little birthday surprise in Memphis. She may be my single most influential marketer around. Thanks for allowing the salesperson at Kate Spade to fall in love with that bauble.

Calder Clark Designs is where it’s at. Calder is the most talented/fun/hip person I know. She creates be-a-utiful events in Charleston and anywhere you want her to go with impeccable taste and stellar design. Click on over and you can see the goodie-bags I created for the children’s table at a July wedding last year at the William Aiken House. And in true Calder fashion, it was also featured in the most recent issue of Southern Living Weddings magazine.

Color | Shades of Green.

18 Jan

Green has always been a staple in my closet and for my home. I love the varying shades of this arguably neutral color. Try pairing it with khaki, taupe, chocolate, navy, or bold colors for the spring. Any of these softer pieces will suffice quite nicely for dress up or the interiors:

Color Blocking | Red + Pink.

10 Jan

Ok. If you know me at all you know 2 things: 1. Red does not exist in my closet. I don’t gravitate towards it in stores and I never wear it, even at Christmas. 2. Pink sort of makes me think of pop princesses. Maybe it’s a little too girly, maybe I am just being obstinate towards it for no reason. It’s undecided.

However, something happened to me when I realized what a combo pink + red are together. Like, I want to go buy lots of pink and red this very moment. And wear them together. And I won’t even feel like I’m repping Valentine’s Day.

Inspire | Heidi Merrick.

29 Dec

Yes, it’s only almost January. I realize that the cold is only starting here on the east coast, but I can not help dreaming of warmer days and sunny rays. Heidi Merrick’s Spring 2012 collection help put me in the summery mood last night and is inspiring my own Spring/Summer 2012 line.

Home for Christmas.

27 Dec

I love being home for the holidays. Details always make this time of the year feel more special, especially when my mom sets herbs in dainty, glass containers at our place settings. Ribbon candy in apothecary jars. Berries and red birds in the kitchen. Chestnuts and twigs on the coffee table. I know that no room or space will be neglected. It truly is all in the details and that’s what makes it feel like home and the holidays. Hope your holidays were just as special!
